History

Every year is another milestone in the Association's history and true to its objectives, WDNA will continue "To promote and encourage the game of netball .." for years to come keeping alive the aims and hopes of the original Steering Committee.

The Beginning

In 1973, a Steering Committee was formed to evaluate the prospect of forming an association in the western suburbs.  In March 1974, fixtures began.  Senior teams who had previously played at Downey Park became part of WDNA.

WDNA 1974 - 2004

In 2004 WDNA celebrated thirty years and produced a written history.  The booklet was compiled by Gail Caldwell, Life Member and former Honorary Secretary.

Acknowledgments:

Val Dobeli - for her wonderful memories of those early times and being an avid collector of memorabilia.

June Bothwell - for writing everything down and insisting that copies always be kept and DATED.

Leanne Matthews - for time spent in the Association archives.

The booklet is a wonderful chronicle of the efforts of those that had a vision and backed themselves with hard work and many many hours of time to make it happen.
